Plantification
Plantification: “The creation of a plant-based variant of a widely known animal product, recipe or brand”.
A plant-based Chocomel variant, a vegetarian version of the iconic Ikea balls, McDonalds’ McPlant, a sweet curry with seitan from Bumi – all examples of this phenomenon. Using the power of recognition, convenience and routine, plantification will play a pivotal role in helping a new group of consumers restore their protein balance. Where electrification is the way forward for the energy transition, plantification is for the protein transition. Planification is about redefining the protein industry. And is the way forward to a more balanced meal on our plate.
